GODLY PLAY
AGE GROUP 4 TO 10 YEARS
Godly Play is an exciting new development in our Junior Church activities.
Godly Play is a method of telling Bible stories, or presenting parables or lessons about religious traditions.
It is a way of preparing children to join in the worship and life of their congregations as they develop a deeper understanding of stories, symbols and rites.
Godly Play supports, challenges and nourishes children as they develop their faith.
We meet in a large group of, typically, 10 to 20 children. After listening to a story, acted out by using wooden representative pieces, the children are invited to "wonder" about what they have heard. Their "response" is then expressed through crafts and, sometimes, music and drama. Everything is child-friendly, welcoming and inclusive allowing each child to develop at his/her own pace.
